National Novel Writing Month: Four Winds Society Book Cover

The National Novel Writing Month is ongoing, and despite a busy design-related day job, the writer has managed to create a few more book covers, including one featuring blue watercolors, trees, and bears, and even do some personal writing.

National Novel Writing Month: Of Blood and Crowns

November is National Novel Writing Month, which is part of an event lovingly called NaNoWriMo for participants. The idea is to write 50,000 words in a month, thereby, writing a barebones first draft of a novel or a good portion of a longer novel. Sweet Poison Book Cover

Coil of Gold Book Cover

Started in 2019, this object-based book cover was created for a fantasy-adventure novel. However, this is actually the second iteration of the same idea. As a process continues, it’s critical to keep in mind the audience for the book, current trends, as well as color theory.

Is Photoshop still Queen?

Sometimes it’s good to remember that other apps exist other than Adobe Photoshop. On mobile, people use everything from Canva to painting applications to make book covers, but on desktop, Photoshop still reigns Queen. Sure, there’s GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), and while some may joke about it, many a cover has been made inContinue reading “Is Photoshop still Queen?”
